Nujoom Alghanem

استلهامًا من الأسطورة الإغريقية التي تتحدث عن الأخوات الثلاث اللواتي ينسجن مصير البشر، تعيد هذه التركيبة الفنية تخيّل مفهومي الخيط والنسيج، وتنقل التركيز من الأفراد إلى المشاهد الطبيعية، والخرائط الجغرافية، والدول.

إذ أن هذه الكيانات هي الأخرى تواجه مصيرًا تصوغه أفعال الإنسان، وتتحمل تبعات الاستعمار والحروب وحتى التمدّن.

من خلال هذا العمل التركيبي، دعوتُ الجمهور إلى المشاركة الفاعلة في خلق جغرافيّاتهم الخاصة. باستخدام خيوط بألوان معيارية مستمدة من الخرائط الجغرافية، يُشجَّع المشاركون على النسج وتحديد أحجام الأراضي والحدود، في استكشاف فريد للعلاقة المعقّدة بين الإنسان وبيئته.

يستند عمل «جغرافيا في تحوّل» إلى نسخة سابقة من المشروع عُرضت في «تشكيل» بدبي خلال فترة إقامتي الفنية هناك. آنذاك وضعتُ مجموعات من المسامير على جدار أبيض خالٍ، ثم ربطت بينها بخيوط من الخيش والقطن، مُشكّلة تركيبًا تجريديًا تركتُه عمداً غير مكتمل ليكون بمثابة دعوة مفتوحة للجمهور للمشاركة والتفاعل والمساهمة في تطوّره.

رافقت هذا العمل التركيبي عناصر صوتية متعددة المستويات، من بينها أداءات صوتية للفنانة رنده عمر بن حيدر وتصميم صوتي لـ مالك الحمّادي، ما أضفى أجواء سمعية غامرة عمّقت التجربة العاطفية والمكانية للعمل.

Drawing inspiration from the Greek mythology of the three sisters who spin the fate of humanity, this art installation reimagines the concepts of thread and weaving, shifting the focus from individuals to landscapes, geographies, and countries. These entities also face a destiny shaped by human actions, enduring colonization, wars, and even urbanization. 

Through this installation, I invited the audience to actively engage in the creation of their own geographies. Using yarns in standard colors found in geographical maps, participants
are encouraged to weave and define the sizes of lands and borders, offering a unique exploration of the intricate relationship between humans and their environments.

Geography in Transformation is based on an earlier version of this work, which was exhibited at Tashkeel in
Dubai, during my residency. There, I placed clusters of nails on an otherwise blank wall. I then interconnected the nails using burlap and cotton strings, forming an
abstract composition. At the time, I intentionally left the artwork unfinished, intending for it to serve as an open invitation for viewers to engage with and contribute to its
evolution.

The installation was accompanied by layered sound elements, including vocal performances by Randa Haider and sound design by Malik Al Hammadi, creating an immersive sonic atmosphere that deepened the emotional and spatial experience of the work.
